The school break is over. What did you do with your kids? This occasion I tried my best to make the short holiday more meaningful for my son. The fact that I plan to go back for work in the near future means that perhaps this is the last holiday that we can spend together.
Preschool sharing session
My son’s holiday started on Thursday. We came to his school to attend the sharing session. It was a fun event as the teacher shared how they taught numeracy through play.
They used everyday things like bottle caps, bread tag, straws, ice cream sticks, and clothes pin and engage students to count them while playing. What a fun way to learn and a great idea to recycle things around us.
They also introduced shapes and invited the students to create various shapes using pipe cleaners.
A weekend with our best friends
Our best friends who used to stay in Boise (Idaho) came for a visit. They just recently relocated to Indonesia and came here to attend a wedding. It was a reunion back after 1.5 years since we left Boise. Abdurrahman was very happy to meet his favorite uncle and auntie. Too bad their children could not come with them. They adored Abdurrahman so much such that one of their son requested that they must take Abdurrahman along with them back to Indonesia. Hahaha!
A Visit to Choa chu kang library
This is the first time I brought my children to local library. Well, Abdurrahman has been to public library, but it was long long time ago in Boise. The library is nice and big. It has one section dedicated for children. Ok, Boise library is still bigger, but I think it has nice selection of books. We have not explored much, but for sure we will come back for more frequent visits.
Visiting Zoo (again)
Abdurrahman has been begging for a tram ride countless time whenever we visited zoo, but on weekend tram ride is not free even for members. That ‘ s why we chose to visit it on weekdays during school holiday to enjoy unlimited tram ride. Abdurrahman was thrilled to get his arm stamped by tram icon.
We went for a full round of ride before visiting other attractions. Finally, it is a dream comes true for him. He brought his binocular and pretend to see the animals using it.
Hours of play at Westgate Wonderland
I met my ex-supervisor on Sunday. Since our helper could not come along with us, we chose to meet at Westgate Wonderland so we can have a chat while my son is busy in the huge themed playground. The playground was huge and the moment Abdurrahman entered it, he already forgot us and running around happily. He rode Thomas the choo choo train, played around the bell flowers, and even climbed the tall tree house (which is supposedly only for children above 5 years). He even made new friend. We could not believe we spent almost two hours here. Approaching noon, Abdurrahman’s new friend said good bye and Abdurrahman already felt exhausted and ready for lunch. That’s when we headed home and had our lunch in LotOne CCK.
What a busy school break for us. I hope Abdurrahman cherished the time we spent together this time around and won’t be upset if next time mummy won’t have that much time to be with him during the upcoming school holiday.
What about you? Where did you go during school breaks? Did you enjoy your time together with your children?
